Three-level progressive metalworking training system

Program Structure

The fabrication station operates on a three-session progressive system. Students must complete each session sequentially before advancing. Each workshop session runs for 3 hours with small group training (max 6 students).

Prerequisites

Session Information

  • Sessions scheduled based on demand
  • Progressive independent access to equipment based on completed training levels

Training Program

Hand Tools

Files, hacksaws, measuring tools, and basic material handling techniques.

Power & Pneumatic

Pneumatic equipment, chop saw, and angle grinders.

MIG Welding

Metal Inert Gas welding setup, techniques, pillar drill, and joint construction.

Training Sessions

Level 1

Hand Tools & Safety

Foundation workshop skills focusing on hand tools and basic safety protocols. First mandatory session for all students.

Learning Objectives

  • Workshop safety protocols and emergency procedures
  • Proper use of hand tools (files, hacksaws, measuring tools)
  • Material handling and workspace organization
  • Basic fabrication techniques

Equipment Access

  • Hand tools (files, hacksaws, hammers)
  • Measuring equipment (rulers, calipers)
  • Workbenches and vises
  • Basic marking and cutting tools
Prerequisite: Bring your PPE and be on time

Level 2

Power & Pneumatic Tools

Introduction to power tools and pneumatic equipment operation.

Learning Objectives

  • Power tool safety and operation
  • Chop saw techniques
  • Pneumatic equipment operation
  • Angle grinder safety and use
  • FastSpotter resistance welding for thin sheets

Equipment Access

  • All Level 1 equipment plus:
  • Chop saw
  • Angle grinders
  • Pneumatic tools and compressor
  • FastSpotter single-sided resistance welder
  • Power tool safety equipment
Prerequisite: Successful completion of Level 1 training
Student using power tools including pillar drill and angle grinder with proper safety equipment
Level 3

MIG Welding

Metal Inert Gas welding techniques and joint construction. Introduction to fabrication welding processes.

Learning Objectives

  • MIG welding setup and gas selection
  • Basic joint types and welding positions
  • Welding safety and fume extraction
  • Pillar drill operation and safety

Equipment Access

  • All previous level equipment plus:
  • MIG welding stations
  • Pillar drill
  • Welding safety equipment
  • Fume extraction systems
Prerequisite: Successful completion of Level 2 training
